Mexican Diplomat Victoria Romero joins the #NoWasteNoHunger campaign

Victoria Romero, the Mexican diplomat, joins #NoWasteNoHunger campaign. She joined the Mexican Foreign Service in 1992. Currently serves as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mexico in Azerbaijan, Embassy of Mexico to Azerbaijan

Previously, she served as Coordinator for G20, MIKTA, and European Affairs in the Deputy Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Mexico (2021-2022), Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Mexico to Denmark (2018-2021), Consul and Cultural Attaché, Embassy of Mexico to Denmark (2015-2018), Member of the Multistakeholder Advisory Group on Internet Governance (2014-2015), Chief of Staff, Head of the Environment Section (Gray agenda
issues), Telecommunications & Internet Section and Head of Humanitarian Affairs (Disaster Risk Reduction), Permanent Mission of Mexico to the International Organizations of the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland (2008-2015), Director of the Ceremonial Department, Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2005-2008), Deputy General Consul, former General Consulate of Mexico in Frankfurt, Germany (2001-2005), Head of the Political Section at the Embassy of México in Japan (1994-2001), Head of the Department of Candidatures of Mexico to Organizations and Agencies within the United Nations System, United Nations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico (1992-1994).

Victoria Romero is a graduate of International Relations at the National The Autonomous University of Mexico. Graduated with Honors. Diploma in Gender Perspective in Public Policy. She completed courses in Climate change, Public Diplomacy, Human Rights, Cultural Affairs, Telecommunications, Internet Governance and Gender Equality.  She was bestowed with the following decorations and acknowledgments:

  • “Mexican Foreign Service Award for 25 Years of Service” in 2018.
  • “Dannenbrog Order, Knight”, awarded on the occasion of the State Visit of Queen Margarethe II to Mexico in 2008.
  • “Leading digital diplomat in Geneva”, given by DiploFoundation in recognition of efforts in promoting digital agenda and active participation as a Mexican representative at the United Nations International Organizations in Geneva in 2015.
